On July 1, Portugal ended its restrictions on unvaccinated visitors. However, travelers from countries affected by Covid will need to show proof of vaccination and complete a health declaration before they can enter. Despite the restrictions, other countries in the Americas, including Canada, Mexico, and the Czech Republic, have been lifting the restrictions on unvaccinated visitors. The EU is also considering loosening its entry requirements. This is in response to the ongoing pandemic. Spain reported a decrease of 9% in daily cases of the disease this week, while the United States reported a 12% increase in daily cases. However, this does not apply to US citizens and permanent residents.
Some countries require travellers to have a negative PCR test to travel un-vaccinated. For example, in Thailand, an un-vaccinated person must have a negative PCR test for COVID-19 within 72 hours of arrival. The European Commission also recommends that children aged six and younger be allowed to travel to any EU member state with a negative PCR test if the test was taken 72 hours prior to departure.
Travellers who want to visit countries without vaccination restrictions should research their country’s health requirements.
Some have eliminated all restrictions on entering the country, while others have eased their entry requirements.
A passenger locator form is also required. Many countries in Europe are beginning to relax their travel restrictions for vaccinated visitors.
Moreover, in countries that require a negative PCR test for travel unvaccinated, it is important to remember that a negative PCR test is only valid if the passenger has already been vaccinated and has a “Covid” passport.
The European Commission is reviewing the current recommendations for travel restrictions in the EU. In addition, travelers must provide a valid vaccine certificate and submit a COVID-19 test to enter the country.
Moreover, travellers who have confirmed cases of COVID-19 in their countries will be required to undergo a 10-day quarantine. For those who have had the COVID-19 vaccine but are still not immune to the disease, an exemption to the rule is available.
The United States has recently ended its mandatory mask requirement. However, countries like Belarus still require travellers to take a negative PCR test before leaving the country.
